Polymer demand in Africa

Polymer demand in Africa

Overview of the market in Africa

The African market represents one of the least developed, but most exciting markets for polymers in the world today. It is a vast continent with a very large, growing and youthful population already highly concentrated in urban areas. Growth is not only fuelled by its natural resources and minerals but also by its rising consumer markets giving rise to a growing demand for a wide range of products requiring plastics from mobile phones to packaging. While much of this is still currently imported there is now massive investment in plastics processing operations driving growth in polymer demand.

Those that understand and participate in this market now will reap the benefit of that future growth. However, Africa is a very complex market covering 53 countries and 2,000 languages and dialects. The needs of North Africa markedly different to those of sub-Saharan Africa and market conditions vastly different in the well-developed South African market compared with most other sub-Saharan countries.

AMI’s new report, the 2nd of its kind for Africa, provides a detailed statistical analysis of where demand is currently occurring and the nature of processing that is carried out there, with an assessment of where the growth opportunities are likely to arise.

What this report will give you

The report provides:

  • A complete, refined and detailed statistical dataset for polymer consumption by polymer, by process and by country.
  • Key highlights of the nature of the demand by each polymer, process and country.
  • Country profiles with key facts and trends.

Published as a single volume report, the report is divided into 7 easy to use sections covering polymer demand data for 2015, 2016, 2017 with five-year forecasts for the period 2016 to 2021.

It also includes a global market overview.
