ORIENTATE Subscription

ORIENTATE is a newsletter dedicated to the global biaxially oriented film industry, published by leading plastics business consultancy, AMI Consulting. ORIENTATE, provides a unique, independent and authoritative view on the trends and developments in the biaxially oriented film business around the world, covering BOPP, BOPET, BOPA and other oriented films.

In the past it was sufficient for film industry executives to have a good grasp of their respective regional markets, there was a greater difference in converter packaging requirements and less of an emphasis on global sourcing.  Today, it takes a broader understanding of world markets to make better decisions.  At ORIENTATE our objective is straight forward – to assist executives and managers within the biax film industry, as well as their suppliers, customers and end users to better understand the industry dynamics.

News with a difference

ORIENTATE brings you all the latest news from the biaxially oriented film industry from around the world including mergers and acquisitions, new investments and capacity expansions and de-commissioning and line relocations. We don’t just look for the press releases either, but seek out the stories and news that does not always make it to the mainline packaging or plastics new sources.

We also keep our subscribers up to date on new developments in resins, additives, slitter technology, coating innovations and enhancements in film line related equipment in addition to key developments in the converting industry.

Film and resin pricing

While we would like to provide the industry with specific film pricing by region, by market, by gauge, that would be difficult. In each region there are a range of prices for any product depending upon the volume purchased, a manufacturers' capacity and the converter/end user agreement in place.  What ORIENTATE does provide are indicators for pricing trends by region (Europe, North America, China) for PP homopolymer, using an average price over a rolling three-month period based on benchmark films appropriate to that region.

In conversation with

In each issue a leading executive from either the biax film industry, its customers or suppliers is interviewed. Interviews have included top management from Biaxplen, Brückner Maschinenbau, Flex Films, Jiangsu Xingye, SRF and Sabic. These exclusive interviews provide a fascinating insight into the strategy and direction of these leading companies.

Country/market reports

Another feature of ORIENTATE is its in-depth articles looking at specific country/regional markets or applications. AMI Consulting, the publisher of ORIENTATE, is a leading provider of information and analysis on the global plastics industry and as such carryies out regular research on the biax film industry.  Country reviews provide detailed assessments of film supply/demand including analysis of capacity utilisation, trade and end use demand, while market reports look at the trends and developments in the use of biax film in markets such as snack food, confectionery, labels and bakery.
