The pressure is on to recycle more plastics and to add value to reclaimed materials. Plastics Recycling Technology 2017 was a two-day conference from AMI that examined the latest technologies for increasing the volume of plastics being recycled. It also explored ways to improve the quality of reclaimed materials so that they can be used in higher value applications.
Leading experts discussed advances in plastics recycling systems, from sorting and cleaning through to compounding and pelletization. Speakers also examined developments in additives for boosting the properties, appearance, compatibility and processability of recycled plastics.
In addition, the conference covered the development of high-value markets for recycled plastics, including case studies of exciting new applications.
Legislation, regulations and standards play critical roles in the development of the plastics recycling sector, and Plastics Recycling Technology 2017 provided an update on relevant developments in these fields.
The scope of the conference covered all types of polymers from polyolefins and PVC through to high-performance engineering plastics. It also addressed applications ranging from the in-house reclamation of industrial scrap through to the recycling of mixed consumer waste.
