The global summit for polymer materials in onshore and offshore oil and gas engineering
AMI’s Oil & Gas conferences have gone virtual for this year! With a successful track record of running Oil and Gas events across 3 continents for more than 10 years now, we are confident we will deliver a fantastically beneficial event to all involved.
The free-to-attend global virtual summit will be held over three days, from 1pm GMT, and will cover the latest technical developments and market trends in the O&G sector.
Topics on the
agenda include the over-riding industry need to control cost in terms of
infrastructure and equipment investment, installation and maintenance, as well
as ways to minimise risk during the development, qualification and application
of new non-metallic materials and components.
The virtual conference sessions are complemented by access to a virtual booth area where you will have the opportunity to explore and interact with suppliers - all from the safety of your own home or office.

CONF REPORT
Advisory Board
New for this year: AMI will be working with an Advisory Board on the conference programs, bringing delegates an in-depth industry knowledge across the supply chain to produce current hot-topic content featuring technical and market presentations. Members of the Advisory Board are leaders in their field and bring their experience and expertise to the conference programs.
Dr. Sebastien Viale, New Materials R&D Manager, TECHNIPFMC
Dr. Sebastien Viale holds a PhD from the Technical University Delft, The Netherlands. He has more than 20 years of international experience in R&D and production of polymers. He has been at TechnipFMC since October 2011, and is a member of the Technip Expert Network. He is in charge of all non-metallic subjects for Onshore/Offshore and Subsea, as well as being in charge of all innovation aspects for polymers and technological scouting for new materials, especially for subsea application. He has been ISO chairman of ISO TC67/SC9/JWG3 since January 2014, and is author of more than a dozen scientific publications and patents.
Dr. Alexandra Torgersen, Consultant, ALEXANDRA TORGERSEN ENGINEERING
Dr. Alexandra Torgersen has a PhD in Materials Science from the University of Oslo (1998) and worked for General Motors for several years before moving into the oil business. Her oil-related career has taken her from FMC Technologies to DNV, Statoil, DEA, Saipem and Technip, always within polymer/elastomer materials and technology qualifications. At present, she is heading her own consultancy company, dealing with non-metallics as well as technology qualification, serving the entire gas and oil industry. She is a member of both Norsok M710, ISO 12736 and ISO 23936 working groups.
Dr. Ricardo Pardey, Non Metallic Material Specialist, BP
Dr. Ricardo Pardey is a Polymer scientist with 29 years of experience in the field of Material Engineering for the oil business. Through the years, he has been in charge of R&D projects related to polymer applications in the oil industry with the goal of enhancing productivity, reliability and costs. His background is Materials Engineer with a Ph.D in Polymer Science from the University of Akron (1993).Currently, he is the non-metallic materials SME for BP within the exploration and production business segment.
Dr. Huilin Tu, Project Manager, SCHLUMBERGER
Dr. Huilin Tu received her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her MSc and BSc with honors in Chemistry from Peking University (China). She is a principal project manager working in Schlumberger Completions. She joined Schlumberger in August 2006. Her main research and development interests include functional materials such as degradable materials, swellable elastomers, and high temperature polymers, and downhole completions tools including frac plugs, packers and packer setting devices.
Mr. Wayne Furlan, Manager Elastomers Group, BAKER HUGHES INC.
Mr. Wayne Furlan has an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Brooklyn College in New York and a Master's degree in Material Science from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. He is the manager of the Elastomers Group in the Completions & Productions division at Baker Hughes. With over 30 years' experience in product and applications development, quality and project management, he has worked on projects ranging from adhesives and coating, nano particle synthesis to elastomer development used in down hole oil applications and has numerous patents in related fields. In his current role, Wayne manages the approval, recommendation and material testing of all elastomers used in C&P and has implemented new testing methods for predicting material life of elastomers. He has also developed and teaches an experimental design course at BHI that enables scientists and engineers to cost effectively develop and optimize materials and processes with the minimal number of experiments.
