Rigid packaging still has problems to solve

Rigid polyolefins like polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (HDPE) are recyclable and can be incorporated into existing recycling systems. However, recycling post-consumer food packaging is challenging due to high purity standards required for re-use in food-contact applications. Contaminants such as food residues, ink, labels, and adhesives complicate this process. Additionally, supply and demand issues also impact the future of circular rigid packaging.
